The Scorch Trials - James Dashner 3.5The Scorch Trials, by itself, might be a pretty exciting book. But as the sequel to the oh-so-exciting The Maze Runner, it just pales in comparison. While the first book made my jaw drop, The Scorch Trials only made me knit my eyebrows in confusion. And I mean, a lot of confusion.Firstly, the start was really slow, not that it could be helped, considering there was so much of figuring out to do. But even after the Trials actually started, the suspense never really felt as intense as it did in the Maze. The plot kept meandering, and I kind of missed the whole solve-the-maze-or-die urgency that the first book had.Still, it’s impressive how James Dashner continues to keep things in the dark. Two out of three books later, I still have no freaking clue what’s going on. Forget answers, I’m not even sure what questions to ask.Must read The Death Cure soon.
